Regulatory Update: 2026 Income Requirements for Korea’s F-6 (Marriage) Visa
The Ministry of Justice has updated the annual income thresholds for the F-6 (Marriage) visa, effective January 2, 2026.
Here is a breakdown of the updated figures and key points.
2026 Annual Income Requirements (Pre-tax)
The required income depends on the number of people in the inviter’s household (i.e., inviter, foreign spouse, and any linear family members registered as part of the same household):
| Household Size | Minimum Annual Income (KRW) |
| 2-Person (Couple) | 25,195,752 |
| 3-Person | 32,154,216 |
| 4-Person | 38,968,428 |
| 5-Person | 45,340,314 |
| 6-Person | 51,335,712 |
| 7-Person | 57,090,900 |
(For households with 8 or more members, the requirement increases by KRW 5.755,188 per additional person)
Key Points to Remember
1. Combined Income: If the inviter’s income is insufficient, it can be combined with the income of the foreign spouse (earned in Korea) and any linear family members registered as part of the same household.
2. Asset Conversion: If the inviter’s income falls short of the income threshold, 5% of net assets can be converted into income. This applies to assets (such as savings, insurance, or real estate) held for more than 6 months and owned by the inviter, the foreign spouse, or linear family members registered as part of the same household.
3. Exemptions: The inviter may be exempt from the income requirement if:
- the couple has a biological child born between them;
- the couple has lived together abroad for at least one year prior to the visa application date and has no domestic income in Korea for the past year; or
- the foreign spouse has previously resided in Korea under the F-6 (Marriage) visa status.
